Earlier this evening I retweeted an @animal post about Americans increased confidence in the employment market:

RT Americans R Quitting Their Jobs - Why! - - @ -

It seems Americans have such confidence in the labour market, they're quitting their jobs for better paying jobs, because they were tired of working too hard and they weren't engaged in their work.  There were other reasons -- 7 to be precise --  I'll let you follow the link above to check those out for yourself. (I recommend you do)

I've heard and read a few Canadian labour reports this month that indicate some renewed confidence in most provinces and increased employment in most sectors too.  According to Statistics Canada though, there are fewer youth looking for work: http://www.statcan.gc.ca/subjects-sujets/labour-travail/lfs-epa/lfs-epa-eng.htm

So what do you think?

If you're employed in Canada, are you comfortable quitting your job in this market?

I have a good friend who just took the plunge for one or two of the top 10 reasons stated in the article.  She's an engineer and a specialist at that.  Within two weeks she was interviewing and within a month she was reviewing job offers.

It's important to know your field and your job market.  Clearly my friend knew hers -- as well as her worth.

I'm very happy for her.  Clever Woman.

:-)
